The Applalachian Region is and was home to much of my family all through history. My family's native connection is from the Iriquois tribes, I am part Iriquois. My mother's side can be traced clear back to England before the pilgrims left for the New World.  In fact my grandmother has traced my family back so far, she has determined that my ancestors were ones that made the original voyage on the Mayflower.  This can only mean one thing, they established themselves in the Tidewater portion of the colonies and began to farm.  This has been the case of my entire family up until my mother and father established their own home; they do not farm but because of the farm environment, they prefer to have a lot of land around them so they do not feel constricted... but I digress.  My mother's family has a slight backgound in religion. My great great uncle was a circuit riding methodist minister.  Back to the farming aspect, my grandfather was the head manager of the West Virginia Universtiy farm. He raised his family in that region also. He had to move to accomodate the University which meant they lived in Hardy county and Preston. He, as well as a couple otherrelatives, have a degree in agriculture sciences.

The Appalachian way of life also applied to my father's family.  My father's family originally immigratied from Germany, I do not know when, but they did.  His entire family grew up in Hardy county and most are still there.  He grew up on a poultry farm where he raised chickens, turkey as well as some produce.  I do not know much about his background, But i do know his roots are in the Appalachian Region.
